October 26th, 27th & 28th

We ask that you put your pots away next weekend as all the food yur heart desires will be at the Bazaar. We will have some delicius cuisine; BBQ brisket, ribs, chicken, homemade sausage, homemade boudain, chicken wings, schrip and fried fis po-boys. We will prepare 500 gallons of Gumbo to ensure that there is enough for all. What else could you ask for? Dinners available all days and after all masses.

A contest is underway for a design for our 2018 Festival T Shirt design. We are encouraging each parishioner (children and adults) to design an image that could be used on our Church T-Shirts for the 2018 Gumbo Festival. The contest ends September 16, 2018. The winner will be selected by the Festival planning committee and acknowledged on all shirts printed. Additionally, the winner will receive a $100 American Express gift card.

Our Bazaar Kick off Dance this year will feature in Concert. "Patrick Henry" along with DJ Jammin J in the Mix. Tickets  are available at the Bazaar table this weekend at a special discount. Don't miss out.

Gumbo Cookoff:

Next Weekend, you will be able to sample 18 different Gumbo types in addition to our traditional Frenchy's Gumbo. Tasting cups, small and large bowls and 32oz.  to-go orders will provide many options to ensure you get your fill.

Water & Soda:

We will take water and soda donations every weekend in October with a goal of securing 150 cases of each. Each family will ask to donate 1 or more cases of waer and soda. This is a St. Mary's tradition. Thanks all.

Our third and final Earlybird drawing waas last weekend, Sunda, October 14th, after the 11:00 Mass. Winner of the 1st place prize, a color TV, was M/M Ron Celestine. Winner of the 2nd Place prize, a $100 Gift Card was Brenda Rogers. Each family should have turned in at least three books by last weekend. All families of the Parish are expected to sell four books to support our only major fundraiser. As you reach the 4-book milestone, your names are placed in the bulletin. All Raffle books should be returned and paid for by Bazaar weekend. The drawing will take place at 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 28th, 2018

Major Expenses:

There are many major expenses associated with our Annual Bazaar & Gumbo Festival. The success and profits are possible largely because of the generosity of St. Mary's families' willingness to underwrite and sponsor most of the larger expenses. Last year, our families' sponsorship totaled more than $50,000. A list of major expenses for this year's Festival is included in this weekend's bulletin along with names of Parishioners who have already committed. We ask each of you to prayerfully consider sponsoring one or more of the many items. Thanks to all who have already sponsored more than half of our expenses to this point.

Souvenir Book:

There are only a few weekends left for advertising in our Souvenir Book. Our goal this year is to get that profit center back over $20,000. We are once again asking each family of St. Mary's to sell at least one Ad. Our goal is to sell at least 100 full page Ads.   So far, we have sold approximately 50 full page ads, we are half way there.   Our Ad sheets are in the bulletin this weekend and every weekend through September 30, 2018.

Our Bazaar Kick off Dance this year will feature in Concert, “Mr. Excitement Patrick Henry” along with DJ Jammin J in the Mix. Space will be limited so get your tables early. Tables are $250 and individual tickets are $30 pre-sale. Tickets have been printed and can be picked up at the table beginning this weekend. If you are celebrating an Anniversary or birthday, we invite you to buy a table and celebrate it with us.

Gumbo Cookoff:

We are looking for the best Gumbo Cooks west of Louisiana. Our Festival will feature 20 to 25 of the best Gumbos chef’s in and around Houston. If you would like to enter or enter a family member please sign up at the Bazaar table.

Weekly Meeting:

St. Mary's Bazaar Committee will meet on Thursday, September 13th, to continue   planning   for   our   2018   Bazaar   and   Gumbo Festival. We need Good Stewards willing to give of their time and talents in helping make this year's Festival a success. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m., in the Cottage.

Wristbands for Kids Zone will go on sale October 7th through October 21st. The sale price is $12 for one day and $20 for both days. This allows the children unlimited rides. Without the wristbands you could easily spend from $30 to $50, so please take advantage of this sale.

Stewardship Prayer of the week:

Dear Lord,

Teach me to be generous as You have been generous with me. Teach me that all I am and have are gifts from You. And gifts, Lord, are meant to be shared.

Show me the joys of generosity. Help me to understand that others, perhaps unknown to me, depend on me for help.

Remind me that my world, my parish, need “Good Samaritans” to heal the wounds of our times.

Make me a gift to others in Your name.
